Tunnelling is well underway across the project, with more than three of 21 kilometres of tunnels dug out. We have 16 roadheaders in the ground excavating the project alignment and another three are being sourced.
We’re building an online tunnel tracking system that will show you where our roadheaders are working. This online map will be on the website in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, the maps below provide an indication of progress as at 22 March 2017 and you can call our project team on 1800 997 057 for more information.
You can also visit our Community Information Centre and view the current progress on our detailed display map.
Will I be advised when tunnelling is near my home?
If your property is directly above the tunnel route, we will write to you approximately one month before we plan to be tunnelling in your area. An example of the letter can be found here.
The following streets have been recently notified of upcoming tunnelling work:
Bundarra Avenue at Wahroonga
Wilson Road at Pennant Hills
Hewitt Avenue at Wahroonga
If you are unsure whether tunnelling is planned for directly below your property, please contact the project team on 1800 997 057.
How deep will the tunnel be beneath my home?
The tunnel is being excavated at various depths across the alignment and is shallower at the northern and southern ends where the tunnel surfaces to join the Hills M2 Motorway and M1 Pacific Motorway. To explore the tunnel depth near your home, please visit the tunnel depth map.
How do I find out more about tunnelling and the equipment NorthConnex is using?
More information about the tunnel and equipment can be found here. A map of the project alignment and fact sheets are also available.
